Sponsored Long-Term Temporary Visa (Visa 870)
The guarantor needs to meet the following requirements:
You are an Australian citizen; or a permanent resident/eligible New Zealand citizen who has lived in Australia for at least four years prior to applying for sponsorship.
They are the visa applicant's biological children, adopted children, or stepchildren who are 18 years of age or older.
Taxable income for the most recent financial year must be at least AUD 83,454.80 (adjusted annually).
A spouse is not a parent guarantor; in other words, a family can only guarantor a maximum of two people at a time.
Meets the good character requirements and has no medical or public debt to the Australian government.
No family balance test
143 and 864 Fee Category Visas
The applicant is the parent of an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
The applicant's children reside in Australia and act as sponsors.
The applicant passes the family balance test (i.e., 50% or more of the children meet the first condition).
Applicants must meet the relevant health and conduct requirements.
The “Older” category refers to those who have reached the Australian retirement age (currently 67 years old).
