Student Guardian Visa – Subclass 590

The 590 visa is a guardian visa for parents or relatives of underage international students studying in Australia. The guardian must accompany the student in Australia to ensure the child's daily life, studies, and safety.

Target audience:

  • Parents, grandparents or other legal guardians accompanying their children to school

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older.

  • The students being accompanied are between 6 and 17 years old (high school level).

Visa features:

  • The validity period is usually the same as the student visa.

  • Full-time work is not permitted; students can only take short-term courses of up to 3 months.

  • Valid medical insurance is required.

  • Supporting documents such as accommodation arrangements and financial support must be provided.
